Our Classical School
Although The Lord has not instituted a certain form or agency of Christian education and training, Ramona Lutheran Christian School stands approved among us as the most effective means of fulfilling our Christian responsibility toward our children. Christian training applied to the child’s whole life and learning is commanded by God.
Ramona Lutheran Church therefore established and maintains a private Christian School to aid parents in carrying out The Lord’s command: “…bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4) We are convinced that our daily program of Classical Christian instruction provides faithfully for the eternal welfare of children, provides a structure for Christian virtue and life, contains that which is considered necessary in a curriculum of elementary education, and supplies the only proper motive for using knowledge, skills, and abilities to God’s glory, the spreading of His Kingdom, and the service of mankind.
This Classical Christian education will have reached its final and ultimate goal when we, together with our children, will be Christ’s eternally. Such an endeavor deserves no less than our continued and wholehearted effort, which we pledge to you and your children.

Our School’s Philosophy

How should a child be instructed?
-
What should they learn?
-
How will this be done?
-
Who is responsible for their education?
Critical questions that demand an answer.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
We believe your child is a precious gift of God given to you. We acknowledge and respect your responsibility for your child. We take seriously the stewardship you grant us for the education of your child, and ensure an organized, accountable, disciplined, and safe environment in order to maximize the maturity of your child.
The Five Pearls of the Classical Christian School
We believe the analogy of five pearls is a useful way to explain the particular ways our campus formulates the whole person attending our school.
They are:
The seven Liberal Arts (as described below)
Pedagogy (the method by which we teach)
The Great Books
Schole (undistracted/contemplative learning)
Virtue (habits/disposition/character traits)
We believe children should be cultivated in the seven Liberal Arts, comprising the Trivium and Quadrivium. Trivium, meaning “three ways,” involves the essential fields of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. Quadrivium, meaning “four ways,” incorporates arithmetic, astronomy, music, and geometry.
We believe the classical model is the most comprehensive and time-tested method for instruction. It is a return to the form of education that dates back at least 2,500 years to the time of Pythagoras when the concepts of truth, goodness, and beauty were formulated for instruction.

Yes. And in most cases exceeds them.
Do your students wear uniforms?
Yes. Ramona Lutheran Christian School is a place for instruction and learning. The purpose of having a school dress code is to simplify the matter of student attire and place that issue in perspective with regard to the learning process. A dress code also promotes a sense of civility and equality among the students and encourages responsibility and self-discipline. Our principal and our faculty insist that each student be dressed in a way that will not hinder the educational process, that will promote a positive image among our students, and that will provide Christian witness to the community. Please visit the Dress Code/School Uniform section of our Family Handbook for more details.

Statement of Faith
RLCS accepts and acknowledges all the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible as the inspired, revealed, and inerrant Word of God, and accepts and acknowledges all the Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and sound exposition of Christian Doctrine taken from and in full agreement with the Holy Scriptures.
RLCS acknowledges, accepts and believes that all who have been brought to faith in Jesus Christ are commissioned by Him to preserve and extend the kingdom of God. This is done by proclaiming to all, in the most effective means possible, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the Work of the Holy Spirit, this proclamation changes hearts and lives and brings victory and comfort to individuals who are declared totally and unconditionally righteous for Christ’s sake.
RLCS acknowledges, accepts, and believes that Holy Scripture gives guidance for our interrelationships and direction for our teaching, as herewith written:
What We Believe
We believe that we should love our Lord with all our being. Matthew 22:37
We believe we should love our neighbors. Matthew 22:39,
We believe in the great commission that we are to bring the Good News of our risen Savior to all we meet. Matthew 28:19, 20
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Genesis 1:26-27
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and woman.
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of RLCS. Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.
The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of RLCS’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Church Pastor (and School Board) is RLCS’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
Finally, as we seek to do God’s will in all our teaching and learning, we profess our belief and acceptance of the words of Christ in Revelation 2:10, which state, ”Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life,” which is life in heaven with Jesus for all eternity. This is most certainly true!
